Trazo C1.8 gives Chrysler LLC immediate access to new vehicle segments in high-growth markets
São Paulo, Brazil, Oct 28, 2008 - Chrysler LLC launches into a new segment in Latin America with the introduction of the new Trazo C1.8 by Dodge today at the São Paulo Motor Show. Trazo C1.8 will be offered as a four-door sedan with exceptional value and fuel efficiency in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. The Trazo C1.8 will be built by Nissan Motor Co., providing Chrysler LLC a high-quality entry into these fast-growing markets.
“The new Trazo C1.8 by Dodge allows us to enter into a segment in which we currently do not compete,” said Mike Manley, Executive Vice President – International Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Chrysler LLC. “The Trazo C1.8 offers customers a high-quality vehicle with great value and provides our dealers with further opportunities to expand their business.”
The exterior of the Trazo C1.8 provides an athletic, yet modern design that is consistent with the rapidly growing Dodge brand. Trazo C1.8’s maximized 102.4-inch (260-centimeter) wheelbase and short front- and rear-overhangs create perfect proportions for city streets, while expressively long rooflines highlight the comfortable and spacious interior.
Trazo C1.8’s grille features intricate louvers that create a contemporary look while integrating the new Trazo emblem. Large halogen headlamps wrap around to front fenders and provide a striking appearance while improving illumination. These elements, combined with a sporty, integrated body-color front fascia, reinforce Trazo C1.8’s youthful looks.
Trazo C1.8’s side profile illustrates aerodynamic efficiency while highlighting generous passenger space within. A raked-back windshield improves Trazo C1.8’s drag coefficient to a low 0.31 Cd while offering a higher roof height for passengers seated in the front and rear. Clean and crisp body-side forms provide a look of sophistication and give balance to the large side glass that gives Trazo C1.8 passengers great visibility.
A well-tailored rear end completes the exterior design while hinting at Trazo C1.8’s cargo versatility. An efficiently shaped deck lid is sandwiched by large jeweled taillamps and provides a strong, integrated look with the wide C-pillar. The deck lid also sits nicely below the large rear window to avoid blocking the driver’s rear view. A large chromed license plate brow and centered Trazo line emblem atop the deck lid ensures the Trazo C1.8 is not a bland, run-of-the-mill four-door.
Space utilization and high-quality interior materials provide Trazo C1.8 with a generously sized interior, rewarding its passenger with comfort and craftsmanship.
Utilizing its longer wheelbase, an interior length of more than two meters front to back makes Trazo C1.8 by Dodge roomy and provides the space needed for an active lifestyle. An up-right seat height position in both front and rear seats allows plenty of leg room. Front-row seats are larger and more comfortable than most C-segment vehicles and deliver comfortable leg room at any position with little compromise to rear-seat passengers. A 60/40 split fold-down rear seat accommodates larger items, while adjustable head rests and a folding arm rest add comfort for up to five passengers on longer road trips.
The instrument panel of the Trazo C1.8 by Dodge duplicates the exterior’s elegantly simple design with a horizontal layout and very efficient use of space. The instruments are housed in three chromed ringed pods, nested in clear view through the sporty three-spoke steering wheel. The center stack contains easy-to-reach climate controls and audio system in addition to a covered storage compartment. A center console, with additional storage features and an ergonomically designed shifter location, flows seamlessly from the instrument panel and defines driver and front-passenger seating areas. Metallic accents on the instrument panel, door panels, steering wheel and other touch points finish off Trazo C1.8’s modern look.
The Trazo C1.8 by Dodge will be available with a 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder gasoline and E100 ethanol-capable engine with both automatic and manual transmissions. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) powertrain offers fuel efficiency along with fun-to-drive excitement the Dodge brand is known for.
Quality is a priority for the Trazo C1.8 by Dodge. A three-year, 50,000-kilometer limited warranty is standard on Trazo C1.8, providing ownership confidence.
Chrysler and Nissan’s OEM Agreement

All-new Yamaha XVS950A Midnight Star
Full-size cruiser performance with a lightweight feel
Powered by a newly-designed 942cc high-torque air-cooled V-twin SOHC engine housed in an easy-handling long-and-low chassis, the all-new Yamaha XVS950A Midnight Star brings an exciting and refreshing ‘new style classic’ look to the sub 1,000cc cruiser category.
This unique and original new machine is aimed at the customer who wants genuine ‘heavyweight’ cruiser style and gutsy V-twin torque combined with punchy performance, light feeling handling and a rider-friendly character. Until now, the choice for new riders looking for a ‘real’ full-sized cruiser has been limited to larger-capacity 1,000cc+ V-twin models whose higher weight and bulkier bodywork can sometimes be intimidating for less experienced bikers.
With its compact new high-torque air-cooled V-twin engine, as well as a long and low chassis, a low seat height, and class-leading modern styling, the easy-to-handle Midnight Star 950 opens up a new chapter in cruiser design. For 2009 those wild-at-heart riders of all ages will have the chance to own a genuine V-twin cruiser whose looks, image, character and performance ensure that it delivers real street credibility.
Although the machine benefits from the use of advanced Yamaha technology, great care has been taken to ensure that this new bike retains the essential simplicity of design that characterizes every classic cruiser.
For example, our engineers spent a great deal of time tuning the new exhaust system in order to accentuate the soulful low-frequency sounds and eliminate high frequency noise. Likewise, much effort was put into creating an efficient intake system which not only enhances performance, but also emits a good intake sound boost pulse feeling from low speeds right through to the high speed range.
The new Midnight Star 950 runs with a large-diameter 18-inch front wheel in order to lighten the handling feel and emphasize the bike’s image of lightness – and for ease of use and enhanced controllability, the fuel tank narrows considerably at the rear.
This extreme attention to every detail – however small – is evident throughout the machine, and the end result is a high quality machine which adds a new dimension to the cruiser world. With its high-torque V-twin air-cooled engine, steel fenders, belt drive and long and low style – as well as new-style classic cruiser looks and a simple, clean-cut design, the all-new Midnight Star 950 delivers full-sized performance with a lightweight feel and easy handling.
Engine
All-new high-torque 942cc air-cooled V-twin 4-valve SOHC design
In order to achieve the design team’s goals of creating a new generation cruiser with a lightweight feel and gutsy performance, the Midnight Star 950 is driven by a newly-designed high-torque 942cc air-cooled V-twin 4-valve SOHC engine with fuel injection.
For optimum low to mid-range performance, the 942cc engine runs with almost ‘square’ bore x stroke dimensions of 85.0 mm x 83.0 mm, and the highly efficient pent-roof combustion chamber delivers a compression ratio of 9.0:1. (For comparison, the Midnight Star 1300 features a bore x stroke of 100.0 mm x 83.0 mm, and a compression ratio of 9.5:1.) The combination of a 4-valve head with a pent-roof combustion chamber and a ‘square’ configuration gives the engine a punchy torque output for strong acceleration and rapid overtaking potential.
This compact new V-twin engine utilizes the same three axes (crankshaft/front cylinder cam/rear cylinder cam) as the larger-capacity Midnight Star 1300 to give a compact V-bank, but it has a very different power delivery character as a result of the elimination of the balancer mechanism. By not equipping this new V-twin with a balancer mechanism, our engineers have been able to enhance the pulse feeling and also minimize the new engine’s crankcase dimensions and weight.
In addition, the decision to adopt air cooling has given our designers more freedom in creating a clean and simple profile which further emphasizes the light feel and image of this new-generation cruiser.
This gutsy new 942cc 60 V-twin also features state-of-the-art internals, including lightweight forged pistons, a ceramic plated cylinder and highly efficient 4-valve cylinder head, as well as many newly-designed components including cams, valves, throttle body, oil pump, crankshaft, connecting rods, clutch, transmission gears, crankcase cover and exhaust system.
Engine - Technical Highlights
• All-new 942cc air-cooled V-twin 4-valve SOHC engine
• Bore x stroke 85 mm x 83 mm
• 9.0:1 compression ratio
• Compact 60º V-twin design
• Uneven firing interval at 300º and 420º

Chassis
New-design double-cradle steel frame
The Midnight Star 950’s new double cradle frame has been designed to deliver a lightweight handling feeling, and this has been achieved by designing a structure which offers varying degrees of rigidity in different areas in order to achieve an idealized rigidity balance. The new frame is especially rigid around the head pipe area, whilst the torsional rigidity is set at a relatively lower level in order to introduce a degree of forgiveness into the handling characteristics, which makes for high levels of surface feedback and increased rider comfort.
The relationship between the frame’s torsional, lateral and longitudinal rigidity levels has been carefully selected by our engineers following extensive testing, and the result is a chassis whose roadholding and handling characteristics complement the performance of the high-torque engine.
From an aesthetic point of view, the design of the new double cradle frame projects an image of simplicity and functionality, which perfectly matches the classic lines of the new air-cooled V-twin powerplant. The engine is mounted to the frame with rigid mounts, with one at the cylinder head and three on the crankcase, and by using the engine as a stressed member the overall chassis weight can be minimized. The four rigid engine mounts also help to accentuate the uneven firing pulse feeling, to give a characterful and enjoyable riding experience.

LEXUS IS F PRICING SETS PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK
Lexus will launch its first dedicated performance model with a price that confirms its market aspirations.
Lexus IS F will come to market with a recommended retail price of $129,000* - significantly beneath its three major rivals.
The pricing represents an aggressive and determined bid by Lexus to take charge of the highly competitive sports luxury market.
It is as challenging as Lexus' launch in Australia in 1990, when it priced its first LS400 well below its established competitors as a means of establishing a new benchmark for the luxury market.
The Lexus IS F uses a compact five-litre V8 engine developing over 311kW and 505Nm of torque.
Its drive to the rear wheels is through an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift (SPDS) gearbox, offering up-shifts of just 0.1 second.
The vehicle which arrives in dealerships late October will come fully equipped - the only option is to delete the moonroof.
"The IS F will bring a strongly competitive force to the performance sedan market," said Lexus chief executive John Roca.
"Almost 20 years ago we arrived in the luxury market and raised the bar in terms of build quality, specification and value.
"In 2008 we have targeted our performance car rivals," said Roca.
The IS F will compete directly with the performance flagships of other luxury marques.
IS F's price will allow Lexus to establish the "F" brand, and build credibility beyond its core "luxury" vehicle market.
"IS F enters one of the most competitive categories," Mr Roca said.
"This category is all about passion and brand values. With the IS F we have the brand values - the passion comes with the first drive.
"The core Lexus values are what will set us apart from the competition.
"Lexus is extremely excited about the arrival of the IS F and the new clientele it will bring.
"Furthermore, Lexus now has a hero car that will stimulate sales of other IS models," said Mr Roca.
*All recommended retail prices quoted exclude dealer delivery, government and statutory charges and optional extras, but include GST and LCT.

2009 Porsche 911 Aerokit I by TECHART
The TECHART Aerokit I for the new Porsche 911 models.
Only genuine TECHART individualisation programmes are defined by the typical TECHART features. Aesthetic and technical. Visible and invisible. One of these is a basic principle of all TECHART products: quality original equipment manufacture.
The new TECHART Aerokit I for the new Porsche 911 model is characterised by its unrivalled exterior design and its inner values: optimal aerodynamic values, confirmed by wind tunnel tests and high quality polyurethane RIM throughout. And, of course, all produced at the company’s manufacturing site in Germany.
TECHART is presenting its programme for the new Porsche 911 models at the Essen Motor Show from 28 November to 7 December 2008.
TECHART Aerokit I for Porsche 911, model year 2009
Vehicles fitted with the TECHART Aerokit I demonstrate a passion for perfection, even at first glance. The result of development work and wind tunnel tests: a sporty and elegant appearance typical of TECHART as well as optimal driving stability thanks to reduced buoyant forces and balanced aerodynamics on the front and back axels.
The new front spoiler I emphasises the dynamics of the new 911, reduces buoyant forces on the front axle and ensures optimal air flow for the effective cooling of the brakes. The air inlets on the front of the vehicle also come with new decorative features. Sill panels emphasise the vehicle’s strong side lines.
A roof spoiler and three different types of rear wing enable precise aerodynamic adjustments to the back axel. The elegant rear wing I, the sporty rear wing III with its fixed wing profile and the variable rear wing IV with integrated back pressure air channels and additional adjustable gurney flap.
The newly designed decorative trims for the exterior mirror – varnished, in carbon fibre or a new chrome finish – as well as headlight trims, TECHART light-metal wheels, striking sports exhaust in a typical double-oval design and individually adapted interior fittings are just some of the options which form part of the comprehensive TECHART individualisation programme for the new 911 models.
